Congratulations to Sebastian Wellford, who is a recipient of the 2023 Chancellor's Award for Research Excellence (CARE). This award acknowledges his dedication and exceptional contributions as a graduate student, including scientific discoveries and publications, as well as his leadership and positive impact on lab, departmental, and institutional culture! Sebastian is a fifth-year student in Dr. Ashley Moseman’s laboratory. His thesis work has demonstrated that a blood-olfactory barrier (BOB) prevents serum antibody from accessing olfactory tissues thus requiring local antibody secretion by resident plasma cells to protect the olfactory mucosa against airway pathogens.
