Stacy M. Horner, PhD, has been promoted to professor of integrative immunobiology, a major career milestone, in recognition of her outstanding scholarly accomplishments and academic leadership.
Horner is widely regarded as an international leader in the emerging field of RNA modifications that regulate viral replication and in the mechanisms by which viruses such as Dengue, Zika, and Hepatitis C evade innate immunity. She is also the director of the Duke Center for RNA Biology and is active in faculty governance at the university level, currently serving as chair of the Academic Programs Committee.
Promotion to the full professor rank is the culmination of a rigorous and thorough review by faculty peers inside and outside Duke and by the academic leaders at the department, school, and campus levels.
